Vocal Waves and Choral Singing

Vocal Waves is a dynamic, non-auditioned community choir based on the Gold Coast, Australia, designed for adults over 18 who love to sing. Originally formed as the HOTA Choir in 2018, it rebranded in 2021 under the leadership of Founding Artistic Director, Antony Zambolt, and is now a proud program of the Play It Forward inclusive arts programs, founded by Jonathon Welch AM. The choir welcomes members of all experience levels to participate in a safe and supportive environment, aiming to create positive social connections and mental stimulation through music. Vocal Waves rehearses on Monday nights at St Hilda’s School in Southport during school terms. Their repertoire is diverse, featuring SATB (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) arrangements that range from modern pop and classic rock to traditional folk and gospel, ensuring a fun and engaging experience for members. The choir regularly performs at local community events and in their own stand-alone concerts. The choir aims for musical excellence while keeping the focus on having fun.

Insight CEO, Dr Mark Griffin, has been singing in choirs since 1987. He currently sings weekly with Vocal Waves, and also sings in the choir at St John’s Cathedral Brisbane (the head cathedral for the Anglican Church in Queensland) at Easter and Christmas time. Mark further sings in the Open Age Solo Vocalist categories at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod each year. We have a gallery of some of the photos and videos that we have captured at choir and musical performances.
